| Description This orchestra, created in the "closed" city of Krasnoyarsk, was one of the Soviet State??™s symbols in the region. It consisted of the best musicians and was creatively dynamic, tours abroad weren't allowed for this orchestra because of the secrecy surrounding the city of its location. Only after the fall of the iron curtain the orchestra could present its art outside Russia and fully enter the civilized musical world. Numerous tours throughout the country and several abroad (the Netherlands, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Estonia) ??“ all have confirmed the Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra??™s highest class. The orchestra of over 100 professionals was conducted by its Music Director, Maestro Ivan Schpiller since 1978 to his death in 2003. Since 2004 the famous, young Russian conductor Mark Kadin has been Principal Conductor and Music Director of the KASO. The Orchestra offers a wide variety of programs each year ??” including a regular series of Classics, and Family offerings, as well as special community presentations celebrating various holidays and area events. A strong and collaborative program of education and youth engagement activities includes concerts presented for University students. The Orchestra boasts an impressive list of distinguished guest artists including Viktor Tretiakov, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Mikhail Pletnev, Nikolai Luganski, Denis Matsuev and many others. |
